LhivE

LhivE is a group of people from Leicester, Leicestershire & Rutland living with HIV. We empower others living with HIV to lead fulfilling and safe lives with choices. Living with HIV brings a whole set of its own issues.
Openly acknowledging HIV+ status begins to demolish the myths and conceptions about HIV, and people living with it. Disclosing your HIV+ status can be an empowering process and starts to educate others about living with the condition, help combat stigma, discrimination and ignorance. Disclosing your HIV status is not possible for everyone and we fully understand and respect each person’s induvudual circumstances and choice.
LhivE is about meaningful involvement. Our aim is to realise the rights and responsibilities of people living with HIV, representing their needs and wishes in decision making processes that affect their lives and shaping responses to services provided.
We have generated some of our own income to provide additional services to those proviced by LASS to people living in Leicester and Leicestershire. We are based at LASS and provide peer led support, counsel each other, hold group discussions, volunteering and training opportunities, retreat weekends, positive speakers and much more to other living with HIV, by people who are best placed to understand, and that’s by those with similar personal experience.
