Leicestershire AIDS Support Services are seeking to recruit a full time (37 Hours Per Week) Support & Advocacy Worker on a fixed term from 3rd January 2012 to 31st March 2012 in the first instance.

Working with people affected by HIV in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland you will be responsible for providing advice and advocacy to assist with any issues faced by service users which is related to their HIV status.

You will provide emotional support to individuals on a face to face and case by case basis and support applications for benefits, housing, immigration and welfare rights.

The ideal candidate will have an excellent understanding of issues such as equality and challenging stigma combined with a broad understand of the issues people with HIV face.  You will liaise direct with various agencies including benefits, housing, welfare, refugee action, NHS and financial management.

Desirable qualifications are level 4 in Health and Social Care, advice, community work or other related qualification.
